The U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit, in a meeting with Minister of Justice Vladimir Grosu, encouraged continuing the reform agenda in the justice sartor and reiterated the United States’ readiness to further support the reforms in this area. He also encouraged the Ministry of Justice in its efforts to promote the objectives of the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Justice.
“We support you and encourage you to continue the initiated reforms. Greater consistency is needed in the fight against corruption and in promoting transformations in justice so that the people see and feel the positive changes that take place in the legal system,” stated the diplomat.
For his part, Vladimir Grosu expressed his gratitude for the constant assistance provided by the U.S. in implementing and promoting reforms in the justice sector and for the readiness to continue the cooperation.
The minister spoke about the Ministry of Justice’s priorities for 2015 and asked the United States to help promote the reformation of the prosecution service, the National Integrity Commission and the National Institute of Justice, optimize the judicial map and improve the court case random distribution system.
