The preparations for the 2007 edition of the “Martisor” International Festival begin with almost half a year before the event, under the patronage of the head of state. A special steering committee responsible for the organization of “Martisor” is urgently created. These orders were given by President Vladimir Voronin within the frameworks of a special meeting organized on the occasion of the future festival.
According to the Presidency, the committee will elaborate within one week the program of the festival, which is expected to be special because it will celebrate the 70th jubilee of the composer Eugen Doga. In this context, the president launched the proposal of publishing a special book and filming a documentary dedicated to the composer’s life and creation.
At the same time, the head of state ordered that “Martisor” is organized not only in Chisinau, but also on the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova, including in the education institutions, as well as in the embassies of the Republic of Moldova accredited abroad, asking organizers to prepare a special edition of the festival.
During 40 years, the format of “Martisor” Festival was changed several times, presenting during some editions only one musical genre, as folk, classical music or allowing participation of young talented singers. During its existence, excepting extremely financially difficult years for the organizers, “Martisor” has been a welcomed event for the spectators from all concert halls from Chisinau and other localities of Moldova. Well-known singers from different countries sang on the stages of the culture houses or education institutions or on improvised stages from rural localities.
The music festival “Martisor” was inaugurated in 1966 by the former director of the National Philharmonics, Alexandru Fedcu and stage manager Gleb Ceaicovschi, being conceived as a place for genuine talents, as a proof of the unique gift of the singers.
