Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of the Our Moldova Alliance Party and also Senior Deputy Speaker, told a broadcast on the national radio on Saturday that the relations within the ruling Alliance for European Integration are good and all the reports about a potential dissolution are lies. “As a construction engineer I can assure you that in time concrete gets harder and harder, day by day. There is nothing wrong going within the Alliance, because we all understand that we shouldn't appear blushing before his majesty the voter”, said Urecheanu.
He said it was natural to “see sparks come out of the Alliance once in a while, like in an ordinary family”. “The future of Moldova is only with a coalition government. There cannot be a majority party. I cannot admit the coming of another monster like Voronin, who had come on a jalopy and left the office a multibillionaire”, said Serafim Urecheanu.
Urecheanu added that he contributed to keeping the balance within the Alliance, including when he refused to endorse Mihai Ghimpu's decree on the 'Soviet Occupation Day'. “If we are indeed an Alliance, then each proposal, decree and decision should be consulted first and I don't understand why this wasn't done in this case”, said Urecheanu.
Besides the Alliance's successes in Parliament, Urecheanu also remarked some faults – the failure to elect a president and adopt a number of key laws; the promotion of some populist acts, like Ghimpu's decree; the lack of organization at times and the existence of vitriolic remarks.
He added that Parliament would convene after the September 5 referendum to fix the date of the early elections. Urecheanu inclined towards a common candidate fielded by the Alliance.
