All the unused lots and facilities located near railways in Chisinau should be put too good use. A part of the unused buildings should be converted into commercial centers or offices. Such recommendations were formulated by experts who took part in a meeting with the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban. The meeting centered on the draft strategy for sustainable socioeconomic and spatial development of the municipality of Chisinau. The document was already debated with specialists and in May will be consulted with civil society, IPN reports.
“Our main urban policy task is to develop the municipality as a polycentric unit by realizing the potential of all the districts and suburban settlements of the municipality so that these cope with the challenges and economic growth opportunities. We want this draft strategy to include the best ideas and innovatory views proposed by specialists, locals and businesspeople at public consultations so that they later contribute to turning Chisinau into a nice, competitive and eco-friendly city,” stated the mayor.
The experts who took part in the meeting pronounced on the main chapters of the draft, in particular the analysis of the demographic situation in the municipality. Representatives of the Institute of Ecology and Geography spoke about the environmental component in the capital city and proposed solutions for correctly managing urban waste.
All the experts who attended the meeting said they will repeatedly analyze the draft strategy and will submit proposals and suggestions to the City Hall by April 8 so as to supplement and improve the draft.
