Until the Antidiscrimination Law is not adopted, the visa regime will not be liberalized. This was suggested by the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel in a news conference on Tuesday. He stated that Moldova is to shift to the second stage of negotiations, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There are two phases of the dialogue on visa liberalization. We have reached results and the Moldovan citizens may soon enjoy a visa-free regime with the EU. Before switching to the second stage, i.e. the implementation of the regime, Moldova must resolve a series of issues. One of them is the Antidiscrimination Law that is to be passed by Parliament. We hope that this will happen as soon as possible now that the head of state was elected,” said Dirk Schuebel. According to the Ambassador, the people will enjoy benefits if this law is passed. “Only one point of this law refers to the sexual minorities. It also says that all the people must be treated equally by the law,” he stated. Dirk Schuebel is optimistic that Moldova and the EU will shift to the second stage of the negotiations. “We will then see how the regime will be implemented. When this is done, there will be no obstacles to liberalizing the visa regime,” stated the diplomat. Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca repeatedly said he will resign if the visa regime with the EU is not liberalized by the end of this year. Dirk Schuebel stated that Iurie Leanca is a good minister and hopes he will not quit even if this objective is not achieved.
