A block of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu” will be transformed into a university medical simulation center. The reconstruction was financed by the European Union and the center is to be inaugurated this autumn, IPN reports.
Practically all the students of “Nicolae Testemitanu” University will do internship in this center, besides the students of the Stomatology Faculty. Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat on April 4 paid a visit to the center and said he was satisfied with what he saw.
”We aim to ensure modern infrastructure so as to provide medical services of a high quality in Moldova. This implies first of all the training of specialists for whom we must create appropriate conditions,” said Vlad Filat.
The center will include several departments: emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, and gynecology. Earlier, this block was intended for the sport classes of medical students. The building started to be repaired in 2010 and the works cost €1.5 million. In the modern equipment, the EU invested about €3 million. The cost of the project amounts to €7 million. A part of the necessary financing is being looked for.
”This center will allow the students to work in hospitals and medical institutions immediately after they do internship here,” said acting Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi. He also said that “Nicolae Testemitanu” University is to obtain authorization for university and post-university training according to European standards.
