A higher number of students is expected to submit applications for admission to higher education establishments during the last three days before the deadline. Most of the universities contacted by Info-Prim Neo said the number of applications is higher than the number of places available. Igor Melnic, secretary of the admission commission of the Academy of Economic Studies, said so far they accepted 2,550 applications for full-time places and over 1,000 applications for part-time places and master's degree studies. The number of applications is four time higher than the number of places available. The business and administration, banks and finances, and accounting departments are in great demand. The head of the Studies Division of the State University of Moldova Teodor Luchian told Info-Prim Neo that over 4,500 students applied for places at the university until present, mostly at the faculties of law or economic sciences. The number of applicants is now about three times higher than the number of places. Tatiana Globa, secretary of the admission commission of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu", said only 750 applicants will be accepted into the university this year. About 1,500 persons have submitted documents so far, by approximately 100 a day, she said. About 3,300 applications have been lodged with the Technical University of Moldova, which provides over 3,500 budget-funded and contract places. The admission commission's secretary Sergiu Andronic said about 250 students submit applications daily. Among the most popular faculties are architecture, interior design and information technology. The deadline for submissions is July 31. Most of the education institutions will announce the admission results on August 2. The results at the University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics will become known on August 5. The rerun admission contest for the unfilled places will take place between August 3 and 7.
