The State University of Moldova takes the 3,123 position in the world according to the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics), this being the best position among the higher education establishments of Moldova. Compared with the rankings released a year ago, the University of Moldova climbed 164 spots. It is followed by the Technical University that is placed 3,421th, up 37 spots on a year before, IPN reports.
The Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy ranks 7,137th, up 34 spots. The Academy of Economic Studies comes on the 7,847th place, up 482 spots. The Taras Shevchenko Transnistria State University is the fifth best university in Moldova, placed 8,891th, as opposed to the 9,229th positon in the previous rankings.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC). Since 2004 and every six months an independent, objective, free, open scientific exercise is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab for providing reliable, multidimensional, updated and useful information about the performance of 27,000 universities from all over the world, 26 of which are from Moldova, based on their web presence and impact.
