The rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies Nicolae Istudor said the universities in Romania and those in Moldova cannot develop without taking the internationalization process into account. “We must increase the number of partnerships not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively,” the rector stated in the National Bank of Moldova’s podcast “Give sense to money”, IPN reports.

Nicolae Istudor said that he does not see a big difference between the teaching staff in Romania and the teaching staff of Europeans universities from the viewpoint of theoretical training. A lot of their young mates study in foreign universities and come with the experience of respectable universities in Europe and implement it successfully at the University of Economic Studies.

“We have a problem and we should admit it. This is also what our students ask at each meeting we have with them and we have at least two semester meetings. They say: Mister, we would like to lay emphasis more on case study and I think we are here slightly behind the universities of Europe. And, what I told you a little bit earlier, this process should involve representatives of the economic and social environment. This means the internships we stage together should be organized with very clear and rigorous monitoring on the part of universities and the economic and social environment,” said the rector, noting that the universities in Moldova should do the same.

According to him, there are no major differences between the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. “You should know that I tell you this information based on the dual diploma program of the Faculty of International Relations. The students from the Republic of Moldova are as good as our students. We do not see a major difference. We can surely say that we are slightly ahead with the internationalization process and the process of improving the relations with the economic and social environment. More should be probably done here in economic education in Moldova and not only in economic education,” stated Nicolae Istudor.
