The United Moldova Party (UMP), headed by Vladimir Tucan, hasn't confirmed yet the departure of MP Svetlana Rusu from UMP to the Moldovan Democratic Party (MDP). Sources within UMP told Info-Prim Neo the party's position on the social and political developments in the country as well as on the party fluctuations will be made public on Tuesday at a news conference. Press reports appeared on Monday announcing that Svetlana Rusu joined the Democrats. But the MDP's press service was not aware whether Svetlana Rusu filed a formal application to join. On June 12, another MP, Valentin Guznac, left the ranks of the United Moldova to join the Democrats. Vladimir Turcan stated in turn Guznac wasn't an active party member and that the MP had hidden personal reasons to leave. The United Moldova parliamentary group formed on 15 December 2009, when four MPs – Vladimr Turcan, Victor Stepaniuc, Valentin Guznac and Ludmila Belcenkova – left the Communist Party. It was later joined by Svetlana Rusu, also a Communist defector. After these changes, the MDP's parliamentary faction enlarged from 13 to 15 MPs, while United Moldova was left with 3 MPs, which makes it unable to form a parliamentary faction.
