Unité saw highest growth on mobile market

The national company Moldtelecom and its mobile telephony operator Unité saw a 33% growth, the highest in quarter four of last year, in the number of users of mobile services, the company said in a press release. “Unité saw an outstanding performance in the reporting period in all areas, including in terms of the number of 3G users, market share and sales, registering solid financial results and a remarkable operational performance in mobile services”, said the company. According to the report of the national telecommunications agency ANRCETI, the number of Unité rose by 62,500 or 33%, and the penetration rate grew by 8.7% from the previous quarter. These achievements translated into a 14% increase in Moldtelecom's sales from mobile services. Thus, Unité added 0.57 percentage point to its market share and 1.3 percentage point to the number of users, to stand at 250,000 users. In this period, Unité's evolution was spearheaded by 3G Internet services, which made a leap of 44% translating to 7,300 new users. This rapid growth propelled Unité to the second place on the market of mobile Internet services. These results, which were achieved despite a difficult economic context, are attributed to Moldtelecom's inspired strategic initiatives as well as to the launching of new unique offers for both mobile telephony and Internet services.
