The public association “UNIREA - ODIP” and the Unionist Movement “Sfatul Tarii II” (“People’s Council II”) call upon the citizens of Chisinau not to take part in the November 19 referendum to remove Dorin Chirtoaca from mayoralty. In a news conference at IPN on November 1, the two organizations announced that they will stage activities to inform the inhabitants of Chisinau and urge them to boycott the plebiscite until close to the referendum day.

Chairman of “UNIREA - ODIP” Vlad Biletski said the announced referendum was planned by the Socialists for the purpose of seizing Chisinau and of selling it to the Russian Federation. He said that now more than ever solidarity and involvement are needed so as to keep the European and Romanian values in Moldova. “This is not your referendum and is not the referendum of Chisinau. This referendum does not have a logical stake,” he stated.

Vlad Biletski also said that if the plebiscite is successful, instead of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the union in 2018, the Socialists will celebrate the Victory Days in the heart of Moldova. “We should not allow them to achieve this objective. We are many in number, powerful and can transmit a sign. We cannot allow this crime,” stated the head of “UNIREA - ODIP”.

“Sfatul Tarii II” chairman Nicolae Dabija said it is regrettable that some of the mayors who robbed are on the outside even if evidence of their deeds was provided, while a mayor who changed the image of the capital city from a Russian one into a European one is under house arrest. “On November 19, we should all stay voluntarily under house arrest and only the enemies and traitors of this nation will go to the referendum,” stated Nicolae Dabija.

The two organizations said that until November 19 they will have discussions with residents of Chisinau all over the capital city so as to persuade them not to go to the referendum. They called on the inhabitants of Chisinau to collect all Socialists’ promotional materials about the plebiscite and to donate them to villagers who need paper to start fire.
