A unionist car march will be staged in Chisinau on September 23, starting at 12 noon. The column will set off from the Great National Assembly Square. The about 100 cars will carry the tricolor and patriotic music will be played throughout the event. The march forms part of the series of events organized by the Alliance for the Centenary on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Great Union.

In a news conference at IPN, “UNIREA – ODIP” leader Vlad Biletski said all those who want to take part in the march will come together in the central square of Chisinau and will then go in a column along the streets of the capital city. “Our goal is to travel on most of the streets of national historical importance in Chisinau during four or five hours,” he stated.

The unionist events include the continuation of the collection of signatures for amending Romania’s Constitution so as to introduce a unionist preamble in it. Vitalie Prisăcaru, project coordinator at the civic movement “Tinerii Moldovei”, said the procedure for collecting the signatures that was launched at the start of summer in the main counties and cities of Romania and in Chisinau resulted in the collection of 200,000 signatures. The unionists aim to gather 1 million signatures until December 1 even if 500,000 is enough from legal viewpoint. The signatures will be used to initiate a referendum in Romania. “In the case of the Republic of Moldova, these signatures will be used an argument for holding a similar referendum here too, but not on the amendment of the Constitution, but to ask the people if they are for or against the union with Romania,” stated Vitalie Prisăcaru.

Ion Leashchenko, chairman of the National Unity Bloc “BUN”, said the series of unionist events will continue with the taking of the Union Flame to each community in Moldova. Parcova is the first locality that will be visited as this was the first to adopt a declaration on the union with Romania. On December 1, the unionists will gather together in Alba-Iulia - the capital of the union of 1600, the capital of the union of 1918 and the capital of the crowning of King Ferdinand and Queen Maria – to celebrate the union.
