The oldest public organization of the Republic of Moldova, The Union of Technical-Scientific Societies (UTSS) set, within its 4th congress the activity plan for the next five years. According to the member of UTSS presidium, Valentina Ciumas, those about 80 delegates to the congress ascertained that since the last assembly, the scientific society involved prodigiously in the works of elaborating and implementing the development programs for the areas of the national economy, and settling international contacts. Valentina Ciumas says that in the report of UTSS president, Dumitru Ghitu, and in the speeches during the debates, was told about the necessity of experience exchange, promoting the registered accomplishments in the technical-scientific area, opening the Museum of Science and Technique, publishing the informing bulletin on the activity of the scientific society. At the same time the speakers emphasized the necessity of attracting grants and so necessary financial resources for scientific research. In order to obtain the money, it is necessary to extend the international relationships and supporting the already settled ones, the speakers mentioned. A problem which could affect the further activity of UTSS, Ciumas says, is the desire of some structures to take possession of the Republican House of Science and Technique, located on Stefan cel Mare Bd., 200. In order to avoid this, the congress informed, through a petition, the leadership of the country about these attempts. The delegates to the congress decided to inaugurate in the near future an Excellence Center for verifying alimentary products and to promote the activity of the European University (EU) opened recently. EU will become an active center of the Union by involving the youth in the process of expanding the accomplishments of the modern science, Valentina Ciumas, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, said.
