Some 12 hectares in the Plaiul Fagului (Beech Land) Nature Preserve, near Milesti village, Nisporeni district, will be reforested with the contribution of Union Fenosa-Moldova Company. Ludmila Motrescu, PR & marketing manager at Union Fenosa, told Info-Prim Neo that the goal of this environmental project is to plant roughly 50,000 saplings. Ms Motrescu added that on Friday, November 23, upon completion of the work on planting the trees there will be held a seminar on environmental education for the students of the grades 7 to 9, attending the village school, with the support of the Ecologic Movement of Moldova. Another project carried out by the company, in partnership with the Green Spaces Association, aims to beautify a portion of a street in Chisinau. According to Ms Motrescu, some 50 saplings will be planted on the same day along Mihai Viteazul Street. The costs of the project amount to 21,000 lei. In late October, a group of volunteers from among the workers of Union Fenosa, participated in a beautifying event in the main park in Chisinau’s Rascani district. These events further outline the corporate standards on environmental protection and on promoting a solicitous attitude towards the communities in which the company operates and are in line with the commitments of the Global Compact Local Network to environmental problems, which have been also assumed by Union Fenosa-Moldova.
