UNICEF has purchased a lot of educational materials and sports equipment to the total value of over 300,000 lei that will be distributed to 500 preschoolers and primary school children through the agency of psycho-pedagogical assistance services. The initiative is part of the US$70,000 assistance provided by the Global Partnership for Education and UNICEF Moldova, which, besides the training of teachers, will ensure the purchase of 80 computers, distribution of support packages for preschoolers and primary school children and organization of courses for instructing educators in distance parent education, IPN reports, quoting a press release of UNICEF Moldova.
“The educational packages mean a series of possibilities for children, for playing and also for learning during vacation, offering thus recreational and development opportunities simultaneously. We request all the partners to support and promote activities for chidden of all ages during a summer that will be fully different in the current challenging pandemic context,” said UNICEF Moldova Country Representative Desiree Jongsma.

According to UNICEF data, nearly 1.3 billion students – over 72 per cent – are out of school as a result of nationwide school closures in 177 countries. About 80 million children worldwide were supported by UNICEF in the period.
