The persons out of work, who are in the country for at least 183 days a year, will be further obliged to pay health insurance premiums. On June 19, the Constitutional Court rejected a relevant challenge filed by a group of Socialist MPs, IPN reports.
Before the decision was made public, Minister of Health Mircea Buga said that if this category of people is no longer obliged to purchase health policy, the health insurance fund will be by about 80 million lei lower. This is half of the budget for covering the costs for particular drugs (compensated drugs).
Challenge authors Alla Dolinta, Igor Dodon, Vasile Bolea and Grigore Novac didn’t present themselves at the meeting of the Constitutional Court.
Starting with January 1, 2014, the Moldovans who stay abroad more than 183 days during a year must purchase a health policy only for the period of stay in Moldova. If the person stays abroad less than 183 days during a year, they are obliged to buy a health policy at its full price when returning to Moldova.
