A man from Rezina who is out of work was arrested for 72 hours for involvement in over 30 episodes of the scheme to provide disability degrees by intermediating the giving of bribe to functionaries of the Rezina local office of the National Council for Disability and Work Capacity Determination, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the man asked for sums that started from 7,000 lei from persons who lost the work capacity for helping them obtain confirmation or reconfirmation of the disability degree. He faces up to seven years in jail for traffic of influence.
The scheme involved expert doctors and intermediaries. Healthy persons could also get a disability degree, receiving thus special state pensions. The sums paid for a disability degree varied between several hundred euros and tens of thousands of lei.
Six persons were arrested at end-August following searches at the National Council for Disability and Work Capacity Determination and at the Rezina local office. Two of them are held at Penitentiary No. 13, while four were placed under house arrest. The persons who suffered as a result of the illegalities of the given functionaries are asked to inform the National Anticorruption Center on 800 55555, whch is the national anticorrution line.
