UNDP will elaborate a study concerning poverty in rural localities of Moldova

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announces a tender for the elaboration of a study regarding the effects and characteristics of poverty in rural areas of the Republic of Moldova. The study will be elaborated within the joint program “Support for the elaboration, monitoring and evaluation of the strategic policies of Moldova”.
According to the UNDP Office in Moldova, the study on the rural poverty in Moldova, as a part of Government’s annual report on poverty and the impact of the policies for 2005 and will be elaborated in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, thus implementing another objective of the solicited service which tackles strengthening the capacities of the Government for cooptation of social partners in implementing national interest tasks.
Legal persons who have relevant experience and proved abilities in implementing this kind of studies can apply. The offers containing relevant information about the organization, relevant experience, experts’ CVs as well as the budget proposals can be submitted until August 18, 2006 at the headquarters of UNDP, with the endorsement “Rural Poverty Research” or through e-mail at tenders-Moldova@undp.org with the same endorsement.
The joint program “Support for the elaboration, monitoring and evaluating the strategic policies in Moldova” offers support to the Government in the process of long-term strategic planning in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and as well monitoring and efficiently monitoring the tasks stipulated in the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (EGPRSP) and the objectives of the EU-Moldova Action Plan. The joint program is based on strengthening capacities of the central and local public administrations and of the civil society in elaborating, monitoring and participative evaluation of development policies and programs.
At present, the joint program is financed by UNDP, UNICEF and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
