Persons can enter the Republic of Moldova with motor vehicles registered in Ukraine even if they do not have the Green Card certificate of insurance issued by Ukrainian insurance companies. The condition is to sign internal civil liability insurance contracts with licensed insurers in Moldova within 24 hours. The price of the insurance policy varies depending on the period of validity of the contract and the type of the unit of transport, IPN reports.
The internal civil liability insurance contracts are valid for 15 days to 12 months. The prices vary depending on the period of validity of the contract, category of vehicle, cylinder capacity or weight and on the experience of the driver, said representatives of an insurer. Another insurance company said the prices start from 400 lei and can rise to 4,000 lei.
The National Commission for Financial Markets said the motor vehicles that just cross the Republic of Moldova need to buy border insurance policies, issued by authorized Romanian insurers, on the border with Romania so as to have civil liability insurance coverage in the Eurozone. The given border insurance is valid in all the states of the European Economic Area and in Switzerland and is valid for 30 days. The exact number of Ukrainian motor vehicles that entered the Republic of Moldova since February 24 is not known. The responsible authorities said these data are being systematized and will be presented in the near future.
