The customs and police officers found over €12,000, almost US$8,000 and over 30,000 Ukrainian hryvnias in the hand baggage of a female passenger of the Chisinau – Istanbul flight at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports, quoting the Customs Service.

The Ukrainian woman aged 43 didn’t declare the money. She said that she didn’t know the method and procedure for taking money out of the Republic of Moldova.

The sums larger than the cap of €10,000 were seized and the person risks being fined in accordance with the Contravention Code.

The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova repeatedly warns the resident and nonresident private individuals about the obligation to declare the money taken into and out of Moldova in accordance with the current legislation. Details about the relevant legislation are available on the official website of the Customs Service.

Recently, another Ukrainian citizen travelling by the Chisinau – Bucharest flight was stopped at the Chisinau International Airport with undeclared US$50,000.
