Moldova’s readiness to assume the functions of a hub in Ukraine’s restoration works after the end of the war triggered by Russia is massively publicized in the neighboring country, especially in the version exposed by Deutsche Welle, IPN reports, with reference to gazeta.ua.

Announced by President Maia Sandu during her visit to Berlin, Moldova’s commitment to assume the role of a “strategic link” for Ukraine’s restoration is reminded by Ukrainian media in the context of the discussion that the Moldovan head of state had with her German counterpart.

Maia Sandu is quoted as saying that “a democratic and stable Moldova is a reliable neighbor of Ukraine, with whom we have a common border of 1,200 kilometers,” and Western support for Ukraine also means assistance for Moldova. “My country wouldn’t have been safe today if Ukraine hadn’t given Russia the response it gave,” said Sandu.

Ukrainian media also reproduce Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s assurances that Germany knows “about the Russian Federation’s attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova with the help of pro-Russian extras.” The German Chancellor highly appreciated the Moldovan President’s ability to counter such attempts and promised to continue to provide multilateral support to the country.

In this connection, sources note that the Russian Federation will target Moldova with a wave of hybrid attacks before the presidential election and the referendum on accession to the European Union. Western sources are also quoted as saying that British intelligence will help Moldova counter the Russian threat.
