The drivers coming from Ukraine are spared from the presentation of the compulsory civil liability insurance policy for motor vehicles (Green Card), but they need to acquire an internal civil liability insurance policy within 24 hours of the arrival in Moldova.

In a response to IPN, the National Public Security Inspectorate said that in accordance with the Contravention Code of the Republic of Moldova, the punishment for using a motor vehicle in the absence of insurance is a fine of 150 to 300 lei for persons, plus two penalty points.

During the state of emergency, the persons owning motor vehicles that are not registered in the Republic of Moldova and that enter Moldova or pass it on their way from Ukraine do not need to pay the road toll (vignette).

Moldova’s Parliament declared a state of emergency for a 60-day period on February 24.
