The negotiators on behalf of Ukraine will support Moldova in its efforts to modify the format of the peacekeeping mission at the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format, Acting President Marian Lupu, who returned from a visit to Kiev, said Thursday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Ukrainian’s President Viktor Yanukovich told Marian Lupu that the official Kiev will help strengthen the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol on issues concerning the crossing of the administrative border and facilitation of the commercial exchanges.
According to Marian Lupu, Ukraine is ready to supply gas to Moldova from its own reserves if necessary. “If Moldova encounters difficulties in obtaining the necessary volume of gas, Ukraine will supply gas from its own stores at reasonable prices,” said the Acting President.
Marian Lupu stated that they also discussed the demarcation of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. There are two points left – in Novodnestrovsk and in Giurgiulesti. It was decided that the process will be finished this spring. The two officials also conferred on the properties owned by the two states and agreed that they will be addressed in a package.
