Ukraine will not consent to Russian bringing helicopters into the Transnistrian region for the Russian peacekeepers to patrol the Security Zone, Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrey Deshitsa said, quoted by the Ukrainian publication “Nezavisimaya gazeta”, IPN reports.
TheUkrainian Ambassador said that Russia will be able to help Transnistria only financially as Ukraine will not allow bringing goods into the region without the consent of Chisinau.
The comments come after the Moldovan press reported that Russia plans to equip its peacekeepers with helicopters, as it was until 1998.
The Reintegration Office of Moldova said that the Russian side didn’t make such a request, but if it makes it the constitutional authorities will not change their position that the situation in the Security Zone does not require additionally equipping the peacekeepers.
