Ukraine plans to build a new power transmission line to ensure energy supply to the southern regions of the country. This was stated by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper. He noted that this project aims to strengthen the region's critical infrastructure and achieve energy independence from the Moldovan GRES, which is under the control of de-facto autohorities of transnistrian region, IPN reports.

Kiper says that Ukraine's power system was built during the Soviet era, and as a result, part of the Odesa region still receives electricity from Moldova. Ukrainian authorities are striving to change this situation to reduce dependence on electricity generated in Transnistria using Russian gas.

According to the head of the regional military administration, work has already begun on constructing the new power transmission line, which will pass through Palanca.

Regarding funding, Kiper specified that the construction of the power transmission line is being carried out by «Ukrenergo».
