Ukraine supports implementation of Moldova’s European agenda

Moldova can count on Ukraine’s assistance in putting into practice the modernization intentions and in implementing the European agenda, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in a meeting with the Moldovan Premier Chiril Gaburici in Kiev, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

“The Prime Minister is ready for taking measures to improve the situation in the country. We support him and the Government of Moldova. It is important to help each other in covering the path to integration into the European Union,” said Petro Poroshenko

The interlocutors underlined the importance of intensifying the political and socioeconomic dialogue, expressing their common interest in strengthening the bilateral and multilateral relations in all the areas of activity.

Also today, the Premier met with his Ukrainian counterpart Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Both Petro Poroshenko and the Prime Minister of Ukraine reiterated the Ukrainian side’s interest in developing the bilateral cooperation. The Ukrainian officials thanked the Moldovan authorities for the assistance provided in overcoming the consequences of the armed conflict in the eastern districts of Ukraine.

Chiril Gaburici also met with Petro Poroshenko’s adviser Mikhail Saakashvili. The Premier spoke about the projects that are to be implemented in Moldova in the relevant areas. Mikhail Saakashvili said the Ukrainian President’s team of advisers is ready to help the Government of Moldova to do the initiated reforms. The former President of Georgia expressed his conviction that the initiatives proposed by Premier Gaburici will help modernize Moldova and improve the situation in the country.

On May 6, Chiril Gaburici paid a working visit to Kiev at the invitation of President Petro Poroshenko. Within the visit, the Premier also met with the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Aleksandr Turchynov.
