Cooperation with Ukraine, Romania and Poland helps to really strengthen the independence of the Republic of Moldova. These countries are bound by the importance of respecting international law as a principle, and this generates hope for a bright future. This was stated by President Maia Sandu after a meeting in Chisinau with the presidents of the three countries, IPN reports.

“Moldova has real friends, it has reliable regional partners. Moldova wants a more active involvement at regional and global level, a goal that it will continue to promote,” said Sandu.

She went on to declare that Moldova’s success as a country depends to a large extent on the relations it builds with other states and international organizations. Moldova wants close friendly relations, based on mutual respect, with its neighbors and other states. “There is no independent and prosperous country without good friends and credible partners. The way in which relations are built in the region, with the neighbors, can determine the speed and quality of modernization and consolidation as a state,” added Maia Sandu.

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis congratulated the citizens of Moldova for the maturity and democratic spirit demonstrated in the legislative elections and for opting for an irreversible pro-European path. The election outcome opens the way for Moldova to a solid development to the benefit of the whole society.

According to the Romanian president, political will and concrete actions are needed to implement the necessary reforms. This will generate a new positive dynamic. The time is also ripe for bilateral relations. Romania remains the closest partner of the Republic of Moldova. The Romanian state has acted energetically since his last visit to increase support for Moldova, including by offering vaccines.

There is now the opportunity for in-depth cooperation at the presidential, governmental and parliamentary levels to advance the bilateral agenda, says Klaus Iohannis. He added that the discussions held between the four presidents provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional security, cooperation, and the future of the Eastern Partnership, including the December 2021 Summit.

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda congratulated the Moldovan citizens on the occasion of the holiday, but also the Poles in Moldova and wished them the best of luck. The president promised that he will make every effort for Moldova to join the EU as soon as possible.

Poland supports the aspirations of the Moldovan authorities, and the election results show that the country has returned to the European community. Poland is ready to share its experience of transformation, especially the economic, social one. The official proposed to President Maia Sandu to meet again in this format in Chisinau and to discuss cooperation, any existing issues, and the extent to which Moldova needs help.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, too, congratulated Moldovans on Independence Day. According to him, our countries celebrate 30 years of independence in uneasy conditions, in terms of security, which is remain a constant challenge. In this regard, he wished Moldovans to stay strong and resilient. “May independence last for thousands of years, along with peace, prosperity and understanding,” the Ukrainian president said. He added that today’s meeting allowed the presidents to discuss security issues and how our nations need to interact to ensure security . He thanked the presidents for supporting the Crimean Platform initiative, which in his view could be a solution to free occupied territories and settle regional conflicts. He also mentioned the “Associated Trio” project and said that he expects the support of other EU Member States and eventually a promise of membership for the Associated Trio

The three presidents were in Chisinau today on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Moldova’s independence.
