Ukraine is ready to take an active part in the discussions on the demilitarization of the Transnistrian region and the transformation of the peacekeeping mission into a mission under the aegis of the OSCE with a view to resolving the Transnistrian dispute. The comment was made by the Informational Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry at the request of Interfax Agency, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Ukrainian Ministry expressed its regret at the tragic incident that happened in the Security Zone on the Nistru on January 1. “Ukraine hopes the investigation will be objective and impartial and considers that all the sides involved should draw conclusions from the results of the inquiry and take appropriate measures so as to prevent the repeat of such cases,” said the Ministry. On January 1, a young man was wounded fatally from a gun by a Russian peacekeeper at the trilateral peacekeeping post No. 9 situated near Vadul lui Voda. The 18-year-old man was driving a car and refused to stop at the post. Vadim Pisari died in the hospital shortly after he was operated.
