Each year 100 Moldovan students will receive scholarships in Ukraine and vice versa. An agreement was signed on Tuesday, June 29, in Chisinau, by Minister of Education Leonid Bujor and Ukrainian Ambassador Serghii Pyrozhkov, Info-Prim Neo reports. Besides the 100 university scholarships, there will be allotted 5 post-graduate scholarships and 20 for researchers. “This accord proves one more time the excellent relationship between our countries”, stated Pyrozhkov. “The agreement will be in effect 3 years in order to create some continuity for future applicants. As required by international standards, not only Ukrainian students will be eligible to receive scholarships, but those belonging to other ethnicities as well”, Minister Bujor said. The main requirement for applicants is to know the official languages of the 2 countries. Nicolae Oleinic, leader of the Ukrainian community in Moldova, who attended the event, said this accord would enhance the cultural exchange and the good relationship between the two neighboring nations. The first protocol of this kind was signed in 1993. Currently, the Moldovan Ministry of Education has similar agreements with ministries from 44 countries.
