For the next to years starting today, some 39 kilometers of road between Hincesti and Cimislia on national route R3 will be under repair in a 268 million lei project implemented with European funds, IPN reports.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Transport Minister Vasile Botnari said the project is a continuation of the repair work on the road connecting Hancesti to Chisinau, which was finished in 2013. In 2015, it is planned to extend the road rehabilitation further south to Basarabeasca district.
To make the rehabilitation of the Hincesti-Cimislia road possible, the State Road Agency signed earlier this week two contracts. A portion of 21 kilometers will be repaired by the contractor Lusmecon for 135 million lei. The remaining portion of 17 kilometers will be rehabilitated by Rutador for 133 million lei. The financing has been provided by the European Investment Bank.
So far the State Road Agency has signed 8 contracts to rehabilitate the roads Chisinau-Giurgiulesti, Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni, Hincesti-Lapusna, and Hincesti-Cimislia. 6 more contracts will follow until the end of the year. A total of roughly 500 kilometers of road will be under repair.
