Doctors of the Leova District Hospital have been waiting for several hours for the Aviasan helicopter to take to Chisinau a two-year-old boy from Iargara village who was struck by a train.
Pediatrician Tatiana Ursu has told IPN that the boy was admitted to the intensive care section in a very serious state. He suffered a head trauma and bone fractures and is now being sedated. The doctor of the Aviasan service will decide if the boy can be transported to Chisinau or not.
Mariana Betivu, press officer of the General Police Inspectorate, said the boy was in the care of his elder brother aged seven. The children were gathering grass near the railroad. The engine driver braked when he saw the child on the railroad, but the impact could not be avoided.
An investigation is under way to establish the exact causes of the incident.
