A child aged two from Coșcalia village of Căușeni district drowned in a well situated in the yard of their house. It happened after the boy, remaining unsupervised by his mother, removed the lid of the well, slipped and fell down.
Silvia Vetcu, press officer of the Căușeni Police Inspectorate, has told IPN that the boy was playing in the yard while his mother was doing the cleaning. The mother took the child out and tried to resuscitate him, but failed. The boy was the only child of the family.
An investigation is underway. According to preliminary police reports, the parents will not be penalized.
