Two women from Drochia town were admitted to the Burns Center of Chisinau with body and face burns after the father of one of these, being inebriated, splashed acid on them.
Asked by IPN to provide details, Lilia Harea, press officer of the Drochia Police Inspectorate, said the incident took place in the evening of February 7. A man aged 65 from Drochia town returned home under the influence of alcohol and started to quarrel with his 34-year-old daughter. Her friend aged 28, who was on a visit to her, tried to defend her. Angry, the man splashed the two women with an unknowns acid from a bottle that it is not known where he took from.
The man was arrested for 72 hours, while the two women were taken to the Drochia District Hospital and from there to Chisinau. Legal action was taken in this case.
Octavian Cirimpei, director of the Burns Center of Chisinau, has told IPN that the woman aged 34 suffered less serious injuries, while the younger woman is under intensive care with third- and fourth-degree burns. Doctors suspect she also suffered internal burns. She has also eyeball burns. The woman will undergo treatment for a long period of time and many surgeries.
