Two volume entitled “Eminescu – gold signs and symbols” and “Absolute seduction. Exercises of eminescian hermeneutics” written by Terezia Filip were launched at the Bookfest International Book Fair on August 31. According to the author, the books appeared out of a great wish to continuously discover poet Mihai Eminescu, IPN reports.
Terezia Filip said the volume “Absolute seduction. Exercises of eminescian hermeneutics” is based on that something that creates the atmosphere of Eminescu’s poems. When writing the second book “Eminescu – gold signs and symbols” she was seduced by the symbolism of supremacy. “The hermeneutic symbol, the gold, is a symbol of supremacy as regards divinity, rivalry, absolute love. That’s why Eminescu somehow crowns the beings about whom he speaks in his poems. We find them in golden hypostases,” said the author, noting Eminescu should be studied at school and at home much more than at present.
Attending the event, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ioniță stated that paraphrasing Emil Cioran, who said that Shakespeare is the feather by which the Lord wrote his culture, the Romanian people can say that Eminescu is the feather by which the Romanian culture was written.
Literary critic Ana Bantoș said the two launched books show that Eminescu always remains the source to which one returns to study oneself better. “For us, Eminescu means a lot. Always returning to Eminescu means a lot. Terezia Filip urges us to return to Eminescu in a somehow different way. She also says that Mihai Eminescu should be read beyond subjectivism,” she stated.
