Two citizens of Ukraine on April 13 were caught at the entrance to Cimișlia after they illegally brought over €440,000 into Moldova. The same day, the Cahul Court issued a warrant for their arrest for a period of 30 days, IPN reports.

The two are aged 32 and 39. They worked in the passenger and freight transport sector. After receiving relevant reports, the police stopped the vehicle, documented the case and seized the over €440,000 found in the vehicle.

The investigations into this case of smuggling continue. Moldova’s borders can be crossed without declaring sums that do not exceed the equivalent of €10,000 per person. The undeclared amount that is higher than €10,000 can be confiscated based on court decision.
