“We have dignity, a glorious past and a history that we should respect,” Doctor of Law Anatol Munteanu said when presenting his books “The Nistru War” and “Sacrifice and Betrayal” on April 14. The books are a homage paid to the police officers who died in the line of duty, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We actively participated in this war as we wanted to win and show the entire world that we are real fighters and have traditions that are hundreds of years old, “ said the author, who is a Knight of the Order “Stephan the Great”. “We laid the foundation of a sovereign and undivided state, but were then sent in reserve. Some of us were hunted and even arrested.”
The author considers that the police officers should know them and be proud of their colleagues who fought to prevent the dismemberment of the country. According to Anatol Munteanu, not 310 persons died in the Nistru war, as it was officially announced, but twice more. “Hundreds of bodies were discovered near the hydroelectric plant in Dubasari. This proves that the Russian imperialist army killed peaceful people,” he said.
Oleg Balan, deputy commander of the special police brigade “Fulger”, welcomed the launch of the two volumes. “The main heroes of the Nistru war are forgotten. These books bring about memories of the war for the country's integrity,” he said.
General in reserve Anton Gamurari, who led the special police brigade “Fulger”, said the Nistru war had been long considered just a conflict. According to him, the present administration consider it a real war and has an appropriate attitude towards it.
The books “The Nistru War” and “Sacrifice and Betrayal” have been issued in 1,000 copies each. Anatol Munteanu works on the third book about the war, which is titled “Revelations about the War”, and on the volume “First World War Military Personalities of Bessarabia”, which is about Bessarabian officers who fought in 1914-1924.
