Two brothers aged 16 and 14 from Șuri village of Drochia district died on the spot when the motorcycle they were riding ran into a reinforced concrete slab. It happened near Chetrosu village of the same district last night.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Drochia Police Inspectorate Ina Moscaliuc said the motorcycle was driven by the 16-year-old boy and his younger brother was travelling as a passenger. The motorcycle didn’t have a license plate.
The police determined that the driver didn’t obey the speed limit and lost control of the motorcycle. He didn’t have a driver’s license, while the vehicle belonged to relatives.
The over 800 road accidents that occurred owing to speeding in Moldova so far this year resulted in at least 116 deaths. The intentional ignoring of the legal speed limit by drivers is the main cause of most of the deaths and injuries in road accidents.
