Two students from Chisinau are suspected of putting forged currency into circulation. The young culprits attempted to put into circulation counterfeit 10,000 US dollars, originating from the Russian Chechen republic and brought to Moldova through the Transnistrian region, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting sources within the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Several days ago, the agents of the Fraud Investigation division of the Botanica Police precinct, caught red-handed a student, 21, of the State University of Moldova and another one, 19, of the State University of Sports. The students were arrested at the moment when they were exchanging 10,000 forged dollars for 4,000 genuine dollars. The raid took place in a café on Renasterii Blvd. According to the police, the quality of the $100 forged bills was very high. The two young men were charged of fabricating and putting into circulation counterfeit currency. If they will be found guilty, they face jail terms ranging from 10 to 20 years. From the beginning of the year, there were registered 25 cases of putting fake money into circulation in Moldova.
