Two police officers threatened with knife and grenade

The man who last weekend threatened two policemen with a knife and a grenade will be investigated over keeping and selling of arms and munitions. He faces up to 5 years in jail or fine of 6,000 to 12,000 lei. The incident happened on Grenoble St in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Adrian Jovmir, spokesman for the General Police Commissariat, the two police officers were patrolling the street when they saw a man with a rucksack who had an inappropriate behavior. They asked him to show his identification papers. The man refused. He took a knife out and tried to injure one of the officers. Afterward, he took an F-1 grenade out of his rucksack and threw it. Fortunately, it did not explode. The policemen managed to immobilize the man, who was a resident of Trueni village aged 39. In the rucksack, he had a mold for a pistol. The police found a RESK Gernement pistol, two hunting rifles IJ-18 and IJ-17, a sawed-off shotgun, cartridges and other ammunition in the home of an inhabitant of Puhoi village of Ialoveni district. The owner did not have documents of origin for the munitions. An investigation is under way.
