Two persons continue to be missing following the April 7 violent protest. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, Alexandra Motpan, the head of the Local Public Administration Division, said that the list of persons that appealed to the City Hall after beaten or arrested by the police includes 322 people, Info-Prim Neo reports. Motpan said that one of the two persons missing is Alexandru Galintski, who has worked at a joint stock company in Chisinau. His mother does not know what happened to him after the April 7 protests. She said he is a quiet person and has never disappeared before. She looked for him at all the police commissariats, but nobody knows anything. The second person that went missing, Donici Serghei, is a student. Many of the persons that appeal to the City Hall wish to remain anonymous because they are afraid, Alexandra Motpan also said. The municipal authorities are ready to provide psychological assistance to all the persons that were affected. According to Svetlana Chifa, the head of the municipal Division for Children’s Rights Protection, the representatives of the Division managed to attend the hearings of only 7 of the 37 children held in the Temporary Placement Center for Minors. They saw signs of violence on the bodies of three of the children. But the children said they hit themselves, denying that they have been maltreated. The other children are from the country’s districts and other teachers were probably called to the hearings. “We don’t know if they were accompanied by somebody during the hearings as we do not have access to information,” Chifa said. The diagnosis and rehabilitation center “Armonie” of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport provides psychological advice to the children that were detained and then released. Mihai Moldovanu, the head of the Health Division, said that teachers, psychologists and doctors can provide psychological assistance both to children and adults at the Division’s Mental Health Center. The Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca called on the persons that possess information about the two persons that went missing and about other cases of disappearance, ill-treatment or death to inform the authorities. “We are in an absurd situation and many could be afraid,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. After the April 7 violent protests, the police arrested a large number of young persons suspected of provoking or participating in the destruction of the buildings of the Parliament and the Presidential Office. The central authorities say that many of the arrested persons have been maltreated. It is said that three young persons died as a result of police mistreatment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs denies the accusations, saying that one of the three young men got poisoned, while the other two killed themselves.
