Two pensioners died because of defective stoves during the last two days. According to the Republican Department of Firemen and Rescuers, the tragic incidents occurred because the pensioners ignored the protection rules against fire when using the stove. A woman aged 73 died because of the smoke in Heciul Vechi village, Sangerei raion on February 23 at 9.25 am. She was covered with a blanket which took fire because of the contact with the stove. A serious fire was prevented by the neighbours. A man aged 77, burned alive in his house located in Negrea village, Hancesti raion. The fire occurred on February 24 at 2.50 am. The firemen say that the old man was alone in the house and did not manage to save himself, because he was blind and disabled. The house burned to the ashes. A team of volunteer firemen from Carpineni village put out the fire. According to the statistics provided by the Department of Firemen and Rescuers the fires occurred because of defective stoves and their incorrect uses are the most frequent in this period. 23 fires which killed 5 persons were registered in February.
