Artur Gutium and Vladimir Cernat left the parliamentary group of the Liberal Party (PL). The two announced this on Facebook in the evening of April 5, IPN reports.

Artur Gutium wrote that he decided to leave the Liberal Party after all his requests to the party’s leadership to deal with the accumulated problems were ignored. He also referred to the way in which Anatol Salaru was excluded from the party and to the lack of internal democracy typical of a Liberal party.

For his part, Vladimir Cernat said he disagrees with many of the decisions taken by the party and considers there is no internal democracy in the PL and this seriously affected the party’s image. “I ascertained with profound regret that all my attempts to stimulate an internal reform dialogue within the administration of the Liberal Party failed. I thus decided to leave the Liberal Party’s group in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova,” wrote the MP.

The two said they will continue to work as independents. Now the Liberal parliamentary group has 11 members.
