Two more persons involved in “bribery for judges” case remain under arrest

The lawyer accused in the “bribery for judges” case will stay under house arrest for another 30 days. The private individual charged in the same case had his remand detention at Penitentiary No. 16 extended for 30 days, IPN reports.

Ten persons, among whom five judges, a prosecutor, a lawyer, a judicial assistant, a doctor and a private individual, were detained on October 23. The judges are suspected of asking for and receiving large sums of money for passing favorable judgments in a number of examined criminal cases. The lawyer and the prosecutor acted as intermediaries in the transfer of the money. The decisions were to be pronounced in favor of the doctor and the private individual.

Earlier, the court decided that two of the judges accused in this case will remain under house arrest for another 30 days, while another judge will be held at the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center for 30 days. The judicial assistant involved in this case had his remand detention extended for 30 days. He is held at Penitentiary No. 13. Two more judges had their remand detention extended for 20 days. The prosecutor will remain under house arrest for another 30 days. The remand detention of the doctor was extend for 25 days. This is held at Penitentiary No. 13.
