Two more persons aspire for post of mayor of Balti

Two more aspirants applied to be registered as contenders for the mayoralty of the municipality of Balti. These are Sergiu Popovici, of the Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing, and independent candidate Ion Ciobanu, who presented the subscription lists with signatures in his support, the head of the Balti District Electoral Council Svetlana Colesnic has told IPN.

The files of Alexandr Nesterovschi, of the Revival Party, and Victoria Șapa, of the Chance Party, and the subscription lists of independent
candidate Marina Cravchenko and Arina Korshykova are being examined.

Independent candidate Marina Tauber, who submitted the subscription lists to the Balti District Electoral Council at the beginning of this week, was withdrawn from the race based on the list compiled by the Central Election Commission following the Commissions for Exceptional Situation’s ordinance. On her Facebook page, Marina Tauber noted that she will continue fighting and already filed an appeal to the Chisinau Appeals Court.

Six candidates for mayor of Balti municipality have been registered so far:


1. Sergiu Burlacu, Liberal Democratic Party
2. Vladimir Rusu, Party of Action and Solidarity
3. Alexandru Gustoi, Party of Communists
4. Ion Straciuc, Party “We Build Europe at Home”
5. Maxim Moroșan, Party of Socialists
6. Aureliu Filipp, Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova.

Applications to be registered as contestants in the November 5 general local elections can be submitted by October 6 inclusive.
