Two more hospitals were converted into institutions for persons infected with the novel coronavirus so as to cope with the number of admitted patients. The Mother and Child Institute set up 25 places for treating infected children, five of which for children born prematurely and for newborns. The Basarabeasca District Hospital reserved ten more beds for patients suspected of having COVID-19 or confirmed with the infection. The subject was discussed in the September 3 meeting of the National Focal Point, IPN reports.

Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that other hospitals will be yet consolidated as the number of infected persons is on the rise. The hospitals and family doctors are permanently in touch with support groups of the Ministry of Health and the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “N. Testemițanu” so that they are helped to implement the new provisions of the COVID-19 temporary protocol.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, an online training course will be staged for medical assistants, psychologists and teachers of preschool, primary and secondary education institutions entitled “Measures to reduce the risks of spread of the infection with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its effects on the behavior and health of children”. The course will be organized with the assistance of the WHO and UNICEF Moldova.
