Two more aspirants for Balti mayoralty apply to be registered

Two more representatives of political parties submitted the documents for being registered as contenders for the mayoralty of the municipality of Balti. These are Alexandr Nesterovschi, of the Revival Party, and Victoria Șapa, of the Chance Party. The Balti District Electoral Council has seven days to examine the documents and take a decision as to the registration of the candidates.

In both of the cases, the documents were presented by representatives of the aspirants. The file of Alexandr Nesterovschi, who is in remand detention, was brought by Veaceslav Zhukov, while Victoria Șapa’s file - by Alexei Capbătut.

None of the aspirants who intend to run for mayor as independents, who last week asked for the subscription lists, have yet brought the lists back with signatures of supporters, the head of the Balti District Electoral Council Svetlana Colesnic has told IPN.

Six candidates have been registered so far:

1. Sergiu Burlacu, Liberal Democratic Party
2. Vladimir Rusu, Party of Action and Solidarity
3. Alexandru Gustoi, Party of Communists
4. Ion Straciuc, Party “We Build Europe at Home”
5. Maxim Moroșan, Party of Socialists
6. Aureliu Filipp, Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova.

Applications to be registered as election contenders can be submitted
by October 6 inclusive. The presented documents are examined by the district electoral council within seven days of the receipt day. In the November 5 local general elections, voters are to elect 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors. The election campaign starts on October 6.
