Six citizens of Moldova – two mothers accompanied by their children – were transported to Moldova from Turkey by a commercial flight, IPN reports.

“By this hour, the representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara have made effort to contract 65 persons from the list of the diplomatic mission, who are in the quake-hit areas. Out of these, 27 Moldovans reported that they are safe. Nine persons asked for specialized consular assistance. In the case of 29 persons, the diplomatic mission continues to try and get in touch with them,” said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Daniel Vodă.

The office of the honorific consul of the Republic of Moldova in Alanya shelters affected people in Alanya and provides assistance in transporting the victims. The office of the honorific consul of the Republic of Moldova in Antalya transmitted boxes with food products to Gaziantep and boxes with warm clothes for the victims to Adiyaman. The Embassy keeps in touch with the team of Moldovan rescuers who continue their mission in Hatay.

“We reiterate on this occasion that the officials of the consular section are ready to provide specialized assistance and, in case of consular emergency or necessity, our citizens can seek help or information from the diplomatic mission, including if they possess information about citizens of the Republic of Moldova from the affected areas,” stated Daniel Vodă.

The hotline for consular emergencies is: +90 541 687 21 04 (active permanently for Moldovans experiencing emergency situations, such as death, accidents, dangers, extraordinary situations or calamities), while the email addresses are: ankara@mfa.gov.md and consulat.ankara@mfa.gov.md.

The Ministry recommends the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the quake-stricken areas to inform themselves from official sources about the developments at the scene and to obey the instructions of the Turkish authorities.
