Moldova will have several representatives in swimming at the Rio Olympics. After Alexei Sankov, Alina Bulmag and Tatiana Salcutan also fulfilled norm B at an international tournament in Lithuania, where Moldova won 17 medals, IPN reports.
The chances for the two swimmers to compete in Rio are very big. Bulmag won the 100 meter breaststroke race, while Salcutan – the 200 meter backstroke race. Alina Bulmag is trained by Sergiu Postica in Chisinau, while Tatiana Salcutan trains in Tiraspol as she is from this town.
Eight Moldovan athletes have qualified for the Olympic Games of Rio so far. These are Roman Prodius, Zalina Marghiev, Lilia Fisikovich, Aaron Cook, Sergey Tarnovschi, Alexei Sankov, Serghei Marghiev, and Marina Marghieva-Nikishenko.
