Ion Dosca of Chisinau, Great International Master at Draughts, has reached the finals of the Brazilian Draughts Contest at the First World Mindsports Games. In the women's category, Moldovan Elena Miskova is fighting for gold against Ukraine's Viktoria Motrichko, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dosca's claim for gold is being disputed by Russian Oleg Dashkov. In the semifinals, Dosca tied with Ukrainian Sergey Belosheev, but the points accumulated in the previous games were enough for the Moldovan to advance.
In the women's finals, current vice-champion Elena Miskova met world's titleholder Viktoria Motrichko.
The First World Mindsports Games, taking place during October 3-18 in Beijing, has brought together over 300 draughtsmen from 60 countries and over 2,000 other players of diverse mind sports like chess, bridge, go, and Chinese checkers.
